this tag was created by [Hi I Love Books] on YouTube and you can click here to check out her video. i’ve seen many people do it and the questions seemed fun so i thought i’d do it too
phase 1: initial attraction- a book you bought because of the cover
that would have to be unravel me and ignite me by tahereh mafi. i went ahead and bought those even though at that time, i had not yet read shatter me, the first book in the series.
phase 2: first impressions- a book you bought because of the synopsis
elizabeth is missing would be my choice for this. i have not read the book yet, but was very interested in it after hearing people talk about its synopsis.
synopsis [from goodreads]:
Maud, an aging grandmother, is slowly losing her memory—and her grip on everyday life. Yet she refuses to forget her best friend Elizabeth, whom she is convinced is missing and in terrible danger.
But no one will listen to Maud—not her frustrated daughter, Helen, not her caretakers, not the police, and especially not Elizabeth’s mercurial son, Peter. Armed with handwritten notes she leaves for herself and an overwhelming feeling that Elizabeth needs her help, Maud resolves to discover the truth and save her beloved friend.
This singular obsession forms a cornerstone of Maud’s rapidly dissolving present. But the clues she discovers seem only to lead her deeper into her past, to another unsolved disappearance: her sister, Sukey, who vanished shortly after World War II.
As vivid memories of a tragedy that occurred more fifty years ago come flooding back, Maud discovers new momentum in her search for her friend. Could the mystery of Sukey’s disappearance hold the key to finding Elizabeth?
phase 3: sweet talk- a book with great writing
definitely shatter me by tahereh mafi. i might not have liked that book a lot, but the writing certainly was great 🙂
excerpt [from shatter me]:
“The moon is a loyal companion.
It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human.
Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.”
phase 4: first date- a first book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series
cinder by marissa meyer. this has been one of my new favorite books and if you haven’t picked it up, you should. the final book is coming out november 10 and i’m so excited!!
phase 5: late night phone calls- a book that kept you up all night
i would not go to sleep until i finished the distance between us by kasie west, which i read in one day. although i technically didn’t stay up really late reading this, it was the only one i could think of.
phase 6: always on my mind- a book you cannot stop thinking about
i could not stop thinking about the one by kiera cass after i finished reading it and kept going back to reread my favorite parts. i still do that sometime, haha
phase 7: getting physical- a book which you love the way it feels
90% of the books i own are paperbacks, so they pretty much feel the same. i couldn’t think of an answer for this, but whenever i see this edition of outlander, i can’t help but think how nice it would feel.
phase 8: meeting the parents- a book which you would recommend to your family and friends
wonder by r.j. palacio. i feel that this is so suitable for anyone out there to read, regardless of age, even though its classified as middle grade fiction. this is just an amazing story that everyone should read for themselves.
phase 9: thinking about the future- a book or series you know you will reread many times in the future
the infernal devices by cassandra clare probably. i just love that trilogy so so so much and besides, i own the manga versions, which makes it a lot more fun and easy to reread as they are such quick reads.
phase 10: share the love- who do you tag?
since i wasn’t tagged to do this, anyone who wants to do it and go ahead and do it 😀
